Tiger In The Grass

Tiger In The Grass

Tiger flowers also called Mexican Shell Flowers (Tigridia pavonia) are pretty garden treasures that bloom in mid- to late summer. Despite originating in warmer climes, these corms appear to survive our mild Maryland winters, and my cluster of Tigridia have been in the garden for several years. While gorgeous, their blooms are ephemeral lasting at most a day, but often more like a few hours. Often, all I seen is the withered remains of what was once a flowers, and so I was fortunate to capture this beauty a day ago. I hope you enjoy it.
