Nandina Glow

Nandina Glow, color

Nandina Glow

I’ve been working with luminosity masking, a technique that I often used in the past, and have recently reacquainted myself with. Luminosity masks are frequently used as a means to produce greater dynamic range, without the harshness of other similar techniques. Here, I combined three photographs of my beautiful Nandina bushes that are at their peak of winter colors. The image was taken while the late winter sun was close to the horizon, bathing the leaves in rich, warm sunlight.
