November, a tough month

In memorium, color

I imagine that all of us have tough spells. Times when it all hits the fan. November has been that sort of month for me. Lots of people I know, love and care for have passed on this month. My mother left us on November 1st. She had 101 years of great life and two months of hell. A good friend and colleague's brother died suddenly of a heart attack on the second week of the month. I heard today that a dear friend who I have known since high school, succumbed to ALS last week. She and I spent a lot of time together in our youth, and I cherish those memories.

For them and all others who have left us, I leave you with this poem.

A POEM FOR THE GRIEVING...

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...
