Nice Rubble

Nice Rubble

The predominant minerals in the Patapsco River valley are gneiss (hence the title ‘nice’ and schist), with gneiss more frequently seen along the paths in my area. Mostly found as mid-sized rocks in rubble fields, they often produce interesting and almost hypnotic patterns; nature’s version of a rorschach image.

The current photograph was taken on a trail in Hilton access area of the Park. My goals in processing were to highlight the patterns, textures, and shapes in the rubble field.
