Orchid Watercolors Series No. 1

The photographs in this blog post were originally Kodak Kodachrome slides captured over three decades ago. At that time, I had a large collection of orchids (> 100 plants), mainly in the Cattleya-Laelia group. While these plants no longer exists, their beauty has been preserved. A few years ago, I digitized each slide through a process of photographing each, broken into four separate images, that were then stitched back together to produce one, high resolution digital photograph. These digital images were then processed to produce a watercolor effect using several programs, including photoshop and Nik Efex to name but two. The results mimic a watercolor painting, but retain details and other nuances from the photographs themselves.

I hope you enjoy them. This post is the first in a series of orchid watercolors blogs. So, please stop by in the near future for more.

Thanks.
