Reaching

Reaching

The third in a series of watercolor-rendered photographs taken several years ago while sailing on Chesapeake Bay. Here a sailor singlehands his sloop, enjoying a refreshing breeze that fills his sails as the boat reaches on. FYI: Reaching is a point of sail where the sails generate lift to power the sailboat, probably a broad or beam reach, with the wind either at a right angle to the boat’s starboard or off at a greater angle and more towards the stern.

If you’re enjoying this and the past photos, please feel free to say so in the comments. Thank you for taking a minute to view my photographs.
