The dahlias are blooming; boy, oh boy, are they blooming!

The dahlia whose just-opened bud is shown above is a beaut. Its big, colorful (red center, yellow sepals, with bluish tips), and prolific.

These flowers are never alone and visited by numerous pollenators. They are also home to those lurking in wait for their morning meal.

BTW, the annual Perseid meteor shower is this Thursday-Friday. Some say this may be a great year, with 200+ meteors per hour. I hope you'll get a chance to get out and behold this spectacle. I will, weather permitting.
